And you have also set up prophets to proclaim concerning you in Jerusalem,‘ There is a king in Judah.’ And now the king will hear of these reports. So now come and let us take counsel together.”

爾命先知在耶路撒冷、指爾而宣告曰、在猶大有王矣、此言必傳於王、故請至此、爾我相議、

爾使先知托神言、謂爾當為猶大王、都耶路撒冷、吾恐人以此奏王、故請爾至此、與我相議耳。

爾亦立先知、使在耶路撒冷宣告爾為猶大王、恐此事難免王聞、故請爾來與我相議、

and have even appointed prophets to make this proclamation about you in Jerusalem:‘ There is a king in Judah!’ Now this report will get back to the king; so come, let us meet together.”

People say that you have even appointed prophets to make an announcement about you. In Jerusalem they are going to say,‘ Judah has a king!’ That report will get back to the king of Persia. So come. Let’s meet together.”

He also reports that you have appointed prophets in Jerusalem to proclaim about you,‘ Look! There is a king in Judah!’“ You can be very sure that this report will get back to the king, so I suggest that you come and talk it over with me.”

and have even set up the prophets in Jerusalem to proclaim on your behalf,“ There is a king in Judah.” These rumors will be heard by the king. So come, let’s confer together.

And I understood and saw that God had not sent him, but he had pronounced the prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.For this purpose he was hired, that I should be afraid and act in this way and sin, and so they could give me a bad name in order to taunt me.

And now, behold, Adonijah is king, although you, my lord the king, do not know it.

But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say,‘ Absalom is king at Hebron!’”With Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem who were invited guests, and they went in their innocence and knew nothing.And while Absalom was offering the sacrifices, he sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city Giloh. And the conspiracy grew strong, and the people with Absalom kept increasing.

Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart;when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart;though his hatred be covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.

He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest. And they followed Adonijah and helped him.

Now therefore you, along with the council, give notice to the tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine his case more exactly. And we are ready to kill him before he comes near.”

For he has gone down this day and has sacrificed oxen, fattened cattle, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying,‘ Long live King Adonijah!’

And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet there anoint him king over Israel. Then blow the trumpet and say,‘ Long live King Solomon!’
