Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them,“ You exact usury, everyone of his brother.” I held a great assembly against them.

“ If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him.

Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you.

“ You shall not charge interest on loans to your brother, interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent for interest.You may charge a foreigner interest, but you may not charge your brother interest, that the Lord your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.

“ You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release what he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed.Of a foreigner you may exact it, but whatever of yours is with your brother your hand shall release.

and said to the judges,“ Consider what you do, for you judge not for man but for the Lord. He is with you in giving judgment.Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking bribes.”

who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

“ When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not go into his house to collect his pledge.You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you.And if he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in his pledge.You shall restore to him the pledge as the sun sets, that he may sleep in his cloak and bless you. And it shall be righteousness for you before the Lord your God.

In you they take bribes to shed blood; you take interest and profit and make gain of your neighbors by extortion; but me you have forgotten, declares the Lord God.

You have said,“ Seek my face.” My heart says to you,“ Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.

Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.
