But the earlier governors— those preceding me— placed a heavy burden on the people and took forty shekels of silver from them in addition to food and wine. Their assistants also lorded it over the people. But out of reverence for God I did not act like that.

Their officials had acted like high and mighty rulers over them. But because of my great respect for God, I didn’t act like that.

耶和華喜悅的是那些敬畏他的人、那些期盼他慈愛的人。

藉著慈愛和信實，罪孽被贖清；因敬畏耶和華，人就遠離惡事。

聽完了這一切，結論就是：當敬畏神，謹守他的誡命，因為這是每一個人的本份。要知道，人所做的每一件事，包括一切隱藏的事，無論是善是惡，神都必審判。

我在你們那裡有缺乏的時候，也沒有成為任何人的負擔，因為從馬其頓省來的弟兄們補足了我的缺乏。在一切事上我都留意，不讓自己成為你們的負擔，將來也會留意。

你們中間誰是敬畏耶和華、聽他僕人聲音的呢？誰是行在黑暗中、沒有亮光的呢？他就當依靠耶和華的名，依賴自己的神！

你們如果只問候自己的兄弟，這樣做有什麼特別呢？連外邦人不也這樣做嗎？

甚至在燒獻脂肪以前，祭司的僕人也會來，對獻祭的人說：「把祭肉交給祭司去烤，他不接受你煮過的肉，他只要生肉。」如果獻祭的人說「必須先燒獻了脂肪，然後你可以隨意拿」，祭司的僕人就會說「不，你現在就給我，不然我就搶了」。這兩個年輕祭司的罪在耶和華面前極大，因為他們藐視耶和華的供物。

除了我自己沒有成為你們的負擔以外，你們所受的對待，到底有什麼不如其他教會呢？請你們饒恕我這點不公平吧！

如果管轄者聽信虛假的話語，所有事奉他的人都會是惡人。

哈利路亞！敬畏耶和華、極其喜悅他誡命的，是蒙福的！
