But the earlier governors— those preceding me— placed a heavy burden on the people and took forty shekels of silver from them in addition to food and wine. Their assistants also lorded it over the people. But out of reverence for God I did not act like that.

Their officials had acted like high and mighty rulers over them. But because of my great respect for God, I didn’t act like that.

耶和华喜悦的是那些敬畏他的人、那些期盼他慈爱的人。

藉着慈爱和信实，罪孽被赎清；因敬畏耶和华，人就远离恶事。

听完了这一切，结论就是：当敬畏神，谨守他的诫命，因为这是每一个人的本份。要知道，人所做的每一件事，包括一切隐藏的事，无论是善是恶，神都必审判。

我在你们那里有缺乏的时候，也没有成为任何人的负担，因为从马其顿省来的弟兄们补足了我的缺乏。在一切事上我都留意，不让自己成为你们的负担，将来也会留意。

你们中间谁是敬畏耶和华、听他仆人声音的呢？谁是行在黑暗中、没有亮光的呢？他就当依靠耶和华的名，依赖自己的神！

你们如果只问候自己的兄弟，这样做有什么特别呢？连外邦人不也这样做吗？

甚至在烧献脂肪以前，祭司的仆人也会来，对献祭的人说：“把祭肉交给祭司去烤，他不接受你煮过的肉，他只要生肉。”如果献祭的人说“必须先烧献了脂肪，然后你可以随意拿”，祭司的仆人就会说“不，你现在就给我，不然我就抢了”。这两个年轻祭司的罪在耶和华面前极大，因为他们藐视耶和华的供物。

除了我自己没有成为你们的负担以外，你们所受的对待，到底有什么不如其他教会呢？请你们饶恕我这点不公平吧！

如果管辖者听信虚假的话语，所有事奉他的人都会是恶人。

哈利路亚！敬畏耶和华、极其喜悦他诫命的，是蒙福的！
