The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa, but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.

Some men from Tekoa repaired the next part of the wall. But their nobles refused to do any work at all. They didn’t pay any attention to the people who were in charge of the work.

And next to them the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles would not stoop to serve their Lord.

Next were the people from Tekoa, though their leaders refused to work with the construction supervisors.

Beside them the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not lift a finger to help their supervisors.

就打發人往提哥亞去，從那裏帶了一個聰明的婦人來，對她說：『你請假裝居喪，穿上喪服，不要用膏油抹身，要裝做一個為死者居喪多日的婦人；

接着是提哥亞人修造了另一段，就是從那凸出來的大譙樓前面、直到俄斐勒的牆。俄斐勒呢、是當殿役的所住的地方。

『「『將來無論哪一國哪一邦不服事他，不服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，不將脖子放在巴比倫王的軛下的，我必用刀劍、饑荒、和瘟疫、去察罰那國，永恆主發神諭說，直到把他們都交在巴比倫王手中。

永恆主對我這麼說：『你要為自己作繩索和軛，掛在自己的脖子上。

我說：『這些人只是貧窮愚昧；因為他們不曉得永恆主所行的路，不明白他們的上帝的法則。我要去見那些大人物，對他們說話；因為那班人曉得永恆主所行的路，他們明白他們的上帝的法則。』但這些人呢、竟將軛折斷，將繩索掙開了。

既然如此，如今你們為甚麼試探上帝，要把我們祖宗、以及我們、所不能負的軛、放在門徒脖子上呢？

對猶大王西底家我也照這一切話告訴他說：『要把你們的脖子放在巴比倫王的軛下、去服事他和他的人民，以得存活。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們要負我的軛來跟我學，你們心裏就可得安歇。

現今世富足的人呢、你要囑咐他們別存着高傲的心，不要把盼望釘住於財富之無定上，卻要釘住於那將萬物豐豐富富供給我們享受、的上帝；囑咐他們要行善，要在好事上富足，甘心施捨，樂意同人分享，

『當那日、永恆主發神諭說，我必從他們的脖子上折斷仇敵的軛，掙開他們的繩索；外族人必不轄制他們做奴隸。他們卻要事奉永恆主他們的上帝，服事大衛他們的王，就是我要給他們興起來的。

弟兄們，看看你們的蒙召吧：按肉身說、有智慧的並不多，有能力的並不多，屬貴族的並不多。

以下是提哥亞一個大戶牧人阿摩司的話：就是當猶大王烏西雅的日子、以色列王約啊施的兒子耶羅波安的日子、大地震以前二年、阿摩司見了異象論到以色列所說的。

永恆主的使者說：『你要咒詛米羅斯；大大咒詛其居民；因為他們不來幫助永恆主，不率領勇士幫助永恆主。』
