善於督導的長老、尤其是在道上和教導上勞苦的人、應當被看為配受加倍敬奉的。因為經上說：「牛踹穀時、你別籠住牠的嘴」；又說：「工人得工錢是應當的。」

當所羅巴伯和尼希米的日子、以色列眾人將歌唱的守門的日日應得的分兒給了他們，又將奉獻物分別起來給利未人；利未人也將奉獻物分別起來給亞倫的子孫。

『藐視我名的祭司啊，萬軍之永恆主對你們說：兒子孝敬父親，奴僕敬畏主人。我既是做父親，我在哪裏得到孝敬呢？我既是做主人，我在哪裏得到敬畏呢？而你們竟說：「我們在甚麼事上藐視你的名呢？」將污穢的食物供獻在我的祭壇上、而你們竟說：「我們在甚麼事上污瀆了你呢？」——這就等於你們心裏說：永恆主的桌子是可藐視的了！你們將瞎眼的牽來獻為祭牲，這不算為壞事麼？你們將瘸腿的有病的牽來獻上，這不算為壞事麼？帶去獻給你的省長吧，他哪能喜悅你，哪能看得起你的情面呢？萬軍之永恆主說。如今試求上帝的情面、好讓他恩待我們吧！這不配的祭獻若出於你們的手，他哪能看得起你們的情面呢？萬軍之永恆主說。哦、巴不得你們中間有人把殿門關上，免得你們在我祭壇上白燒了火，萬軍之永恆主說：我不喜愛你們，我不從你們手中收納供物。因為從日出之地到日落之處、我的名在列國中乃為至大；而在各處、必有所燻獻有所供獻潔淨之物於我的名；因為我的名在列國中乃為至大，萬軍之永恆主說。而你們呢、卻褻瀆我的名——這就等於你們心裏說：主的桌子是污穢的，而其食物是可藐視的了！你們還心裏說：「哼，多麼膩啊！」遂嗤之以鼻！萬軍之永恆主說。你們將被搶奪過的、瘸腿的、有病的帶來，獻為供物，我哪能從你們手中收納這個呢？永恆主說。可咒詛啊、行詐騙的人！他的羣中有公的；他也許過願了，卻用有損壞的祭獻給主！其實我是至大的王，萬軍之永恆主說：我的名在列國中是可畏懼的啊。

有歌唱的人聚集了來，是從耶路撒冷四圍一帶平原、從尼陀法的莊院、從伯吉甲、從迦巴和押瑪弗的田莊而來的；因為歌唱的人在耶路撒冷四圍為自己建造了莊院。

你要謹慎，儘你在你土地的日子、你總不可丟棄利未人。

『你要吩咐以色列人從所得為產業的地之中、把城市給利未人居住，也把城市四圍的牧場給利未人。
