他们的职任是协助亚伦的子孙，办理耶和华殿的事务，管理院子、厢房和洁净一切圣物，以及办理神殿的事务；

除了祭司和供职的利未人以外，任何人不得进入耶和华的殿，只有他们可以进去，因为他们是分别为圣的；全体人民都要遵守耶和华的吩咐。
