Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.

你們還自稱為聖城的人，聲稱倚靠名為萬軍之耶和華的以色列的上帝。

在聖城的利未人共有二百八十四名。

我們的祭司、利未人和民眾抽籤，決定每年哪一族要在指定的時間把獻祭時所需用的木材帶到我們上帝的殿裡，按照律法的規定燒在我們的上帝耶和華的壇上。

錫安啊，醒來吧，醒來吧，展示你的能力！聖城耶路撒冷啊，穿上你華美的衣服！從今以後，未受割禮和不潔淨的人必不得進入你的城門。

魔鬼又帶祂進聖城，讓祂站在聖殿的最高處，

他們在耶穌復活後離開墳墓，進聖城向許多人顯現。

他們無論大小，都按照族系抽籤，以決定看守哪個門。

大家便禱告說：「主啊！你洞悉人的內心，求你指明這兩個人中你要揀選哪一個來擔負使徒的職分。猶大丟棄了這職分，去了他該去的地方。」

約書亞便在示羅按照以色列的支派，在耶和華面前為他們抽籤分地。

這城很大，但人口稀少，房屋尚未重建。我的上帝感動我召集貴族、官員和民眾，按照他們的家譜進行登記。我找到第一批回歸之人的家譜，上面記著：

那裡有審判的王座，就是大衛家的王座。

「如果案件複雜，難以決斷，如謀殺、訴訟、人身傷害等，就要把案件帶到你們的上帝耶和華選定的地方，交給當值的利未祭司和審判官去審理。

現在我們要抽籤去攻打基比亞。我們要從各支派中抽出十分之一的人負責運糧，等軍隊到達基比亞後，就可以討伐在以色列做出這種卑鄙之事的基比亞人。」

人可以搖籤求問，但耶和華決定一切。
