其餘之民、祭司、利未人、守門者、謳歌者、殿役、及凡與異邦人絕交從天主律法者、並其妻其子女、凡有知識能明者、

all these now join their fellow Israelites the nobles, and bind themselves with a curse and an oath to follow the Law of God given through Moses the servant of God and to obey carefully all the commands, regulations and decrees of the Lord our Lord.

All the men joined the nobles of their people. They made a firm agreement. They made a promise and said they would be cursed if they didn’t keep it. They promised to follow the Law of God. It had been given through Moses, the servant of God. They promised to obey carefully all the commands, rules and laws of the Lord our Lord.

And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all[ their] heart and all[ their] soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

Then said they, We will restore[ them], and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do[ them].

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

O LORD our Lord, how excellent[ is] thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

Did not Moses give you the law, and[ yet] none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel,[ with] the statutes and judgments.

But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.

That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.

[ Let] love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,

Cursed[ be] the man that maketh[ any] graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth[ it] in[ a] secret[ place]. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed[ be] he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed[ be] he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed[ be] he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed[ be] he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.Cursed[ be] he that confirmeth not[ all] the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.

That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and[ that] he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God,[ saying], Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.

But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

O LORD our Lord, how excellent[ is] thy name in all the earth!

For the law was given by Moses,[ but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Moses commanded us a law,[ even] the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.
