“ The rest of the people— priests, Levites, gatekeepers, musicians, temple servants and all who separated themselves from the neighboring peoples for the sake of the Law of God, together with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand—

The rest of the people gathered together. They included the priests, the Levites and the men who guarded the gates. They included the musicians and temple servants. They also included all the people who separated themselves from the surrounding nations to obey the Law of God. All these men brought their wives with them. And they brought all their sons and daughters who were old enough to understand what was being agreed to.

“ The rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all who have separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, their daughters, all who have knowledge and understanding,

Then the rest of the people— the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to understand—

The rest of the people— the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants, along with their wives, sons, and daughters, everyone who is able to understand and who has separated themselves from the surrounding peoples to obey the law of God—

Now the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all those who had knowledge and understanding,

Now the rest of the people— the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and understanding—

以色列的後裔與所有的外邦人分別出來，站着承認自己的罪和祖先的罪孽。

你們不要和不信的人同負一軛。義和不義有甚麼相關？光明和黑暗有甚麼相連？基督和彼列有甚麼相和？信主的和不信主的有甚麼相干？上帝的殿和偶像有甚麼相同？因為我們是永生上帝的殿，就如上帝曾說：「我要在他們中間居住來往；我要作他們的上帝，他們要作我的子民。」所以主說：「你們務要從他們中間出來，跟他們分別；不要沾不潔淨的東西，我就收納你們。

以色列人聽見這律法，就與所有不同族羣的人分別出來。

憑誠實、公平、公義指着永生的耶和華起誓；列國就必因他蒙福，也必因他誇耀。」

七月初一，以斯拉祭司將律法書帶到聽了能明白的男女會眾面前。

在上帝面前你不可冒失開口，也不可心急發言；因為上帝在天上，你在地上，所以你的話語要少。

這些事完成以後，眾領袖來接近我，說：「以色列百姓、祭司和利未人沒有棄絕迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、亞捫人、摩押人、埃及人和亞摩利人等列邦民族所行可憎的事。因他們為自己和兒子娶了這些外邦女子，以致聖潔的種子和列邦民族混雜，而且領袖和官長在這事上是罪魁。」

但我對你們說過，你們要承受他們的土地；我要把這流奶與蜜之地賜給你們，作為你們的產業。我是耶和華－你們的上帝，是把你們從萬民中分別出來的。

其餘百姓所捐的有二萬達利克金子，二千彌那銀子，六十七件祭司的禮服。於是祭司、利未人、門口的守衛、歌唱的、百姓中的一些人、殿役，並以色列眾人，都住在自己的城裏。到了七月，以色列人住在自己的城裏。

現在當向耶和華－你們列祖的上帝認罪，遵行他的旨意，離開這地的百姓和外邦女子。」全會眾大聲回答說：「好！我們必照着你的話去做。只是百姓眾多，又逢大雨的季節，我們沒有氣力站在外面；這也不是一兩天可以辦完的事，因我們在這事上犯了大罪。讓我們的領袖代表全會眾留在那裏。我們城鎮中凡娶外邦女子的，當按所定的日期，會同本城的長老和審判官前來，直到辦完這事，上帝的烈怒轉離我們。」惟有亞撒黑的兒子約拿單，特瓦的兒子雅哈謝反對這事，並有米書蘭和利未人沙比太支持他們。被擄歸回的人就如此做了。以斯拉祭司按着父家指名選派一些族長。十月初一，他們一同坐下來查辦這事，到正月初一，才查清所有娶外邦女子的人數。在祭司中查出娶外邦女子的：耶書亞的子孫中，有約薩達的兒子，和他兄弟瑪西雅、以利以謝、雅立、基大利，他們承諾要送走他們的妻子。他們因有罪，就獻羊羣中的一隻公綿羊贖罪；

於是祭司、利未人、百姓中的一些人、歌唱的、門口的守衛、殿役，各住在自己的城裏；以色列眾人都住在自己的城裏。

因為上帝是全地的王，你們要用聖詩歌頌！

祭司：耶書亞家耶大雅的子孫九百七十三名；音麥的子孫一千零五十二名；巴施戶珥的子孫一千二百四十七名；哈琳的子孫一千零一十七名。利未人：何達威雅的後裔，就是耶書亞和甲篾的子孫七十四名。歌唱的：亞薩的子孫一百二十八名。門口的守衛：沙龍的子孫、亞特的子孫、達們的子孫、亞谷的子孫、哈底大的子孫、朔拜的子孫，共一百三十九名。殿役：西哈的子孫、哈蘇巴的子孫、答巴俄的子孫、基綠的子孫、西亞的子孫、巴頓的子孫、利巴拿的子孫、哈迦巴的子孫、亞谷的子孫、哈甲的子孫、薩買的子孫、哈難的子孫、吉德的子孫、迦哈的子孫、利亞雅的子孫、利汛的子孫、尼哥大的子孫、迦散的子孫、烏撒的子孫、巴西亞的子孫、比賽的子孫、押拿的子孫、米烏寧的子孫、尼普心的子孫、巴卜的子孫、哈古巴的子孫、哈忽的子孫、巴洗律的子孫、米希大的子孫、哈沙的子孫、巴柯的子孫、西西拉的子孫、答瑪的子孫、尼細亞的子孫、哈提法的子孫。
