Beware, I am against you. This is the declaration of the LORD of Armies. I will make your chariots go up in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the sound of your messengers will never be heard again.

Behold, I am against you, declares the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall no longer be heard.

“ I am your enemy!” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ Your chariots will soon go up in smoke. Your young men will be killed in battle. Never again will you plunder conquered nations. The voices of your proud messengers will be heard no more.”

“ Behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord of armies.“ I will burn up her chariots in smoke, and a sword will devour your young lions; I will eliminate your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard.”

“ Behold, I am against you,” says the Lord of hosts,“ I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more.”

You have mocked the Lord through your messengers. You have said,‘ With my many chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains, to the far recesses of Lebanon. I cut down its tallest cedars, its choice cypress trees. I came to its farthest outpost, its densest forest.

He makes wars cease throughout the earth. He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces; he sets wagons ablaze.

therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: See, I myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will execute judgments within you in the sight of the nations.

The king had heard concerning King Tirhakah of Cush,“ Look, he has set out to fight against you.” So he again sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

Can the prey be taken from a mighty man, or the captives of a tyrant be delivered?For this is what the LORD says:“ Even the captives of a mighty man will be taken, and the prey of a tyrant will be delivered; I will contend with the one who contends with you, and I will save your children.

Woe to the city of blood, totally deceitful, full of plunder, never without prey.

Then the royal spokesman said to them,“ Tell Hezekiah this is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says:‘ What are you relying on?

Look, I am against you, devastating mountain. This is the LORD’s declaration. You devastate the whole earth. I will stretch out my hand against you, roll you down from the cliffs, and turn you into a charred mountain.

But the royal spokesman said to them,“ Has my master sent me to speak these words only to your master and to you? Hasn’t he also sent me to the men who sit on the wall, destined with you to eat their own excrement and drink their own urine?”The royal spokesman stood and called out loudly in Hebrew:“ Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.This is what the king says:‘ Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; he can’t rescue you from my power.Don’t let Hezekiah persuade you to rely on the LORD by saying,“ Certainly the LORD will rescue us! This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.”’“ Don’t listen to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says:‘ Make peace with me and surrender to me. Then each of you may eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and each may drink water from his own cisternuntil I come and take you away to a land like your own land— a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and honey— so that you may live and not die. But don’t listen to Hezekiah when he misleads you, saying,“ The LORD will rescue us.”Has any of the gods of the nations ever rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria?Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they rescued Samaria from my power?Who among all the gods of the lands has rescued his land from my power? So will the LORD rescue Jerusalem from my power?’”

Speak to him and say,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Look, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster lying in the middle of his Nile, who says,“ My Nile is my own; I made it for myself.”

Then Assyria will fall, but not by human sword; a sword will devour him, but not one made by man. He will flee from the sword; his young men will be put to forced labor.His rock will pass away because of fear, and his officers will be afraid because of the signal flag. This is the LORD’s declaration— whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

You are to say,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Look! I am against you, Sidon, and I will display my glory within you. They will know that I am the LORD when I execute judgments against her and demonstrate my holiness through her.

Woe, you destroyer never destroyed, you traitor never betrayed! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you have finished betraying, they will betray you.LORD, be gracious to us! We wait for you. Be our strength every morning and our salvation in time of trouble.The peoples flee at the thunderous noise; the nations scatter when you rise in your majesty.Your spoil will be gathered as locusts are gathered; people will swarm over it like an infestation of locusts.

After this, while King Sennacherib of Assyria with all his armed forces besieged Lachish, he sent his servants to Jerusalem against King Hezekiah of Judah and against all those of Judah who were in Jerusalem, saying,“ This is what King Sennacherib of Assyria says:‘ What are you relying on that you remain in Jerusalem under siege?Isn’t Hezekiah misleading you to give you over to death by famine and thirst when he says,“ The LORD our God will keep us from the grasp of the king of Assyria”?Didn’t Hezekiah himself remove his high places and his altars and say to Judah and Jerusalem,“ You must worship before one altar, and you must burn incense on it”?“‘ Don’t you know what I and my predecessors have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have any of the national gods of the lands been able to rescue their land from my power?Who among all the gods of these nations that my predecessors completely destroyed was able to rescue his people from my power, that your God should be able to deliver you from my power?So now, don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, and don’t let him mislead you like this. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to rescue his people from my power or the power of my predecessors. How much less will your God rescue you from my power!’”His servants said more against the LORD God and against his servant Hezekiah.

Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and left. He returned home and lived in Nineveh.One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword and escaped to the land of Ararat. Then his son Esar-haddon became king in his place.

therefore, I am against you and your Nile. I will turn the land of Egypt into ruins, a desolate waste from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Cush.

therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: See, I am against you, Tyre! I will raise up many nations against you, just as the sea raises its waves.

Then the king of Assyria sent the field marshal, the chief of staff, and his royal spokesman, along with a massive army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They advanced and came to Jerusalem, and they took their position by the aqueduct of the upper pool, by the road to the Launderer’s Field.
