是我對深淵說：『乾涸吧！我也要使流入你的江河枯乾』；

為什麼我來的時候，沒有人在呢？為什麼我呼喚的時候，沒有人回應呢？難道我的手臂太短不能救贖嗎？難道我沒有能力解救嗎？看哪！我發出斥責，使海洋乾涸，使河流成為曠野；其中的魚因無水而發臭，因乾渴而死去。我使諸天以黑暗為衣服，以麻布為遮蓋。」

耶穌對他們說：「為什麼膽怯呢？你們這些小信的人哪！」耶穌就起來，斥責風和浪，湖面就變得一片平靜。

海水啊，你為什麼逃跑呢？約旦河啊，你為什麼倒流呢？

你開闢泉源和溪流，也使常流的河乾枯。

海裡的水必枯乾，大河必乾涸枯竭，河道必發臭，埃及的河流必消減而乾涸；蘆葦和蘆荻必凋萎，尼羅河邊、尼羅河口的蒲草，以及沿著尼羅河所種的田都必枯竭，被風吹去，不復存在。漁夫必哀哭，尼羅河上所有垂釣的必悲慟，水面上撒網的也必衰頹。績麻的和織白布的都必蒙羞，埃及的棟梁必被壓碎，所有的雇工都必心裡悲痛。
