There is[ one] come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.

尼尼微謀士、惟惡是作、專行不軌、悖逆耶和華、

惟爾尼尼微、邪謬之議士、由爾中出、所謀惟惡、欲攻擊主、

From you, Nineveh, has one come forth who plots evil against the Lord and devises wicked plans.

Nineveh, a king has marched out from you. He makes evil plans against the Lord. He thinks about how he can do what is wrong.

From you came one who plotted evil against the Lord, a worthless counselor.

Who is this wicked counselor of yours who plots evil against the Lord?

One has gone out from you, who plots evil against the LORD, and is a wicked counselor.

From you has gone out One who plotted evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor.

From you comes forth one Who plots evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor.

There is one gone forth out of thee, that deviseth evil against Jehovah, that counselleth wickedness.

One has gone out from you, who plots evil against Yahweh, and is a wicked counselor.

From you, O Nineveh, one has marched forth who plots evil against the LORD, a wicked military strategist.

There is one gone out of you, who devises evil against Yahweh, who counsels wickedness.

What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted[ thy] voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high?[ even] against the Holy[ One] of Israel.By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof,[ and] the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders,[ and into] the forest of his Carmel.I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.Hast thou not heard long ago[ how] I have done it,[ and] of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities[ into] ruinous heaps.

Now the sons of Eli[ were] sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.

Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but[ it is] in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.For he saith,[ Are] not my princes altogether kings?[ Is] not Calno as Carchemish?[ is] not Hamath as Arpad?[ is] not Samaria as Damascus?As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?Wherefore it shall come to pass,[ that] when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done[ it], and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant[ man]:And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs[ that are] left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith?[ or] shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake[ itself] against them that lift it up,[ or] as if the staff should lift up[ itself, as if it were] no wood.

Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?And his servants spake yet[ more] against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of[ other] lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that[ were] on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth,[ which were] the work of the hands of man.

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name[ was] Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.
