從那時起，耶穌才向門徒明說，他必須上耶路撒冷去，受長老、祭司長和文士許多的苦，並且被殺，第三天復活。

「看哪，我們上耶路撒冷去，人子將被交給祭司長和文士；他們要定他死罪，把他交給外邦人戲弄，鞭打，釘在十字架上；第三天他要復活。」

耶穌說：「以利亞的確先來復興萬事。經上不是指着人子說，他要受許多的苦和被人輕慢嗎？

從此，他教導他們說：「人子必須受許多的苦，被長老、祭司長和文士棄絕，並且被殺，三天後復活。」

耶穌對他們說：「這就是我從前和你們同在時所告訴你們的話：摩西的律法、先知的書，和《詩篇》上所記一切指着我的話都必須應驗。」於是耶穌開他們的心竅，使他們能明白聖經，又對他們說：「照經上所寫的，基督必受害，第三天從死人中復活，

基督不是必須受這些苦難，然後進入他的榮耀嗎？」

「你們知道，過兩天是逾越節，人子將要被出賣，釘在十字架上。」

可是，園戶看見他兒子，彼此說：『這是承受產業的。來，我們殺了他，佔他的產業！』於是他們拿住他，把他扔出葡萄園外，殺了。

耶穌把十二使徒帶到一邊，對他們說：「看哪，我們上耶路撒冷去，先知所寫的一切事都要成就在人子身上。他將被交給外邦人；他們要戲弄他，凌辱他，向他吐唾沫，並要鞭打他，殺害他；第三天他要復活。」

正如人子來，不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人，並且要捨命，作多人的贖價。」

他既按着神確定的旨意和預知被交與人，你們就藉着不法之人的手把他釘在十字架上，殺了。神卻將死的痛苦解除，使他復活了，因為他原不能被死拘禁。

沒有人奪去我的命，是我自己捨的；我有權捨棄，也有權再取回。這是我從我父所受的命令。」

摩西在曠野怎樣舉蛇，人子也必須照樣被舉起來，

希律和本丟‧彼拉多，同外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，做了你手和你旨意所預定必成就的事。

「你們要把這些話聽進去，因為人子將要被交在人手裏。」

耶穌回答他們說：「你們拆毀這殿，我三日內要把它重建。」

我們若忍耐到底，也必和他一同作王。我們若不認他，他也必不認我們；
