豈不是因你四面給圈上籬笆圍護着他和他的家、跟他一切所有的麼？他手所作的你都賜福；他的牲畜在地上也突破限量地增多。但你只要伸手擊打他一切所有的，他就一定當面謗讟你了。』永恆主對撒但說：『看哪，凡他所有的都讓你手擺布；只是他的身子、你卻不可伸手加害。』於是撒但就從永恆主面前退出來。

耶穌斥責他說：『不要作聲！從他身上出來！』鬼把他摔倒在眾人中間，就從他身上出來，沒有傷害他。

因為耶穌曾囑咐污靈從那人身上出來。原來那污靈曾經多次抓住了他；他是常被看守着，又用鎖鍊和腳鐐捆鎖好的；他竟把所捆鎖的掙斷，被鬼催迫到野地來了。

你們是出於你們的父魔鬼的；你們的父的私慾、你們才願意行。他從起初就是殺人的，不站立在真實上，因為在他裏面沒有真實。他說謊言時，乃由本性說出來，因為他是撒謊者，是撒謊者的父。

他還在上前來的時候，鬼把他摔倒，使他重重抽瘋。耶穌就斥責那污靈，醫治那孩子，把他交給他父親。

無論在哪裏，靈一抓住他，就把他摔倒；他便流着口沫，咬着牙齒，枯乾下去。我請過你門徒把靈趕出來，他們卻沒有力量。』

你們要冷靜戒備着，儆醒着。告你們的對頭、魔鬼、如同咆哮的獅子走來走去，尋找可吞喫的人。

他喊叫，大大地抽瘋，就出來了。孩子就像死人一般，以致眾人都說：『他死了。』

那個人把塋墓中間當做住所；再沒有人能捆住他，就是用鎖鍊也不能；因為他屢次被腳鐐和鎖鍊捆住，鎖鍊竟被他折斷了，腳鐐也弄碎了；總沒有人能使他馴服。黑夜白日、他時常在塋墓中山中喊叫，用石頭割傷自己。

永恆主對撒但說：『看哪，他都讓你手擺布；只是他的性命你卻要保存。』於是撒但就從永恆主面前退出來。他便用毒瘡去擊打約伯，從腳掌到頭頂滿都是瘡。約伯拿瓦片去刮身體；坐在爐灰中。
