『爾憑何權為此種切？且孰授爾以此權耶？』

既入人叢中、有人趨至耶穌前而跽曰：『主其矜憐吾子、彼患癲癇甚苦。頻跌於火、屢墮於水。我攜之就爾徒、而若輩不能治也。』耶穌曰：『噫、悖謬無信之世乎！我與爾俱、將至何時？予爾含忍、將至何時？姑攜子來。』耶穌斥魔、魔出而其子立愈。門徒潛謁耶穌曰：『吾儕莫之能祛、何也？』曰：『以爾無信故也。蓋吾實語爾、苟有信德如芥子、即命此山自移、亦必從焉；且無事不成也。惟此類魔鬼、非禱與齋、亦不能祛耳。』

耶穌方辭出、經生及法利塞人積怨既深、迫之彌甚、激使多言、欲伺其隙、以為語柄耳。

會經生數人在坐、心竊議之曰：

而甘嘗垢辱、毅然肩負苦架。今則安坐天主寶位之右矣。爾等當細心體驗、耶穌當時如何忍受群小之拂逆、庶幾不致灰心而自餒。
