耶穌對曰：『善夫意灑雅指爾輩虛偽者之預言也！其書云、「斯民敬我以唇舌、其心與我隔天淵、

He replied,“ Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:“‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

He replied,“ Isaiah was right. He prophesied about you people who pretend to be good. He said,“‘ These people honor me by what they say. But their hearts are far away from me.

And he said to them,“ Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,“‘ This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;

Jesus replied,“ You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

He answered them,“ Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

But He said to them,“ Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written:‘ This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.

He answered and said to them,“ Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:‘ This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.

And he said unto them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, But their heart is far from me.

He answered them,“ Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with[ their] lips, but their heart is far from me.

He said to them,“ Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written:‘ This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

He answered them,“ Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,‘ This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

The Lord says:“ These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. (niv)

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. (niv)

My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. (niv)

You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:“‘ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’” (niv)

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. (niv)

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.If one of you says to them,“ Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (niv)

having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (niv)

Then the Lord said to him,“ Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?But now as for what is inside you— be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.“ Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.” (niv)

but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. (niv)

If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. (niv)

You are doing the works of your own father.”“ We are not illegitimate children,” they protested.“ The only Father we have is God himself.”Jesus said to them,“ If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. (niv)

Jesus replied,“ If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. (niv)

They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement:“ The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said through Isaiah the prophet: (niv)

Israel cries out to me,‘ Our God, we acknowledge you!’But Israel has rejected what is good; an enemy will pursue him. (niv)
