So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus,“ Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?”

於是，法利賽人和經文士就問耶穌：「你的門徒們為什麼不照著古人的傳統行事，用不潔淨的手吃飯呢？」

乃問耶穌曰、爾門徒不依古人遺傳、以俗手而食、何也、

於是、𠵽唎㘔人、士子、問耶穌曰、爾門徒不遵古人遺傳、手未盥而食、何也、

於是法利賽人及經士問耶穌曰、爾門徒何不遵古人遺傳、手未盥即食乎、

故法利塞人及經生質耶穌曰：『爾徒不遵古人遺規、而以俗手取食何也？』

So the Pharisees and the teachers of the law questioned Jesus.“ Why don’t your disciples live by what the elders teach?” they asked.“ Why do they eat their food with‘ unclean’ hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?”

So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples follow our age old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand washing ceremony.”

So the Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ceremonially unclean hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes* asked Him,“ Why do Your disciples not walk in accordance with the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unholy hands?”

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him,“ Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands?

Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him,“ Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ritually unclean hands?”

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

The Pharisees and the experts in the law asked him,“ Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with unwashed hands?”

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?”

and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed.( The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders.

“ Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.

Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is no truth in these reports about you, but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law.

I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.

When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples:“ Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”On hearing this, Jesus said to them,“ It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus,“ How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?”

And he is then also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
