於是，法利賽人和經文士就問耶穌：「你的門徒們為什麼不照著古人的傳統行事，用不潔淨的手吃飯呢？」

乃問耶穌曰、爾門徒不依古人遺傳、以俗手而食、何也、

於是、𠵽唎㘔人、士子、問耶穌曰、爾門徒不遵古人遺傳、手未盥而食、何也、

於是法利賽人及經士問耶穌曰、爾門徒何不遵古人遺傳、手未盥即食乎、

故法利塞人及經生質耶穌曰：『爾徒不遵古人遺規、而以俗手取食何也？』

So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus,“ Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?”

So the Pharisees and the teachers of the law questioned Jesus.“ Why don’t your disciples live by what the elders teach?” they asked.“ Why do they eat their food with‘ unclean’ hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?”

So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples follow our age old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand washing ceremony.”

And the Pharisees and the scribes* asked Him,“ Why do Your disciples not walk in accordance with the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unholy hands?”

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him,“ Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?”

And the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands?

Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him,“ Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ritually unclean hands?”

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

The Pharisees and the experts in the law asked him,“ Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with unwashed hands?”

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?”

They observed that some of his disciples were eating bread with unclean— that is, unwashed— hands.( For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, keeping the tradition of the elders.

“ Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat.”

Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother or sister who is idle and does not live according to the tradition received from us.

But they have been informed about you— that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or to live according to our customs.

Take these men, purify yourself along with them, and pay for them to get their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that what they were told about you amounts to nothing, but that you yourself are also careful about observing the law.

I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.

For we hear that there are some among you who are idle. They are not busy but busybodies.

When the scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples,“ Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”When Jesus heard this, he told them,“ It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who are sick. I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. People came and asked him,“ Why do John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but your disciples do not fast?”

And he became the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith our father Abraham had while he was still uncircumcised.
