所謂儀文即勿近、勿嘗、勿捫之類、此皆按人所命所教而禁之物、用之之時、皆必敗壞、此儀文有智慧之名、使人行分外崇拜之事、故作謙卑、不惜身、不自重、毫無所益、惟徇所欲焉、

爾門徒何犯古人遺傳、食時不盥手乎、答曰、爾何因爾遺傳犯天主之誡乎、天主誡云、敬爾父母、又云、詈父母者必治之死、惟爾曰、若人對父母云、爾所當得於我者、已獻為禮物、遂可不敬父母、是爾以爾遺傳而廢天主之誡矣、

於是法利賽人及經士問耶穌曰、爾門徒何不遵古人遺傳、手未盥即食乎、
