And do you not remember,when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They* said to Him,“ Twelve.”“ When I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they* said to Him,“ Seven.”And He was saying to them,“ Do you not yet understand?”

Later He appeared to the eleven disciples themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reprimanded them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen from the dead.

Why, Lord, do You cause us to stray from Your ways And harden our heart from fearing You? Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.

After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He* said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

And then He said to them,“ You foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

And He* said to them,“ Are you so lacking in understanding as well? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the person from outside cannot defile him,

Do you not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you picked up?Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets you picked up?How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;
