When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves,“ Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.

Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!

Jesus responded,“ Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.The disciples were amazed.“ Who is this man?” they asked.“ Even the winds and waves obey him!”

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting,“ Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.Then he asked them,“ Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed.“ Who is this man?” they asked each other.“ When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!”

They were completely amazed and said again and again,“ Everything he does is wonderful. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to those who cannot speak.”

Then Peter called to him,“ Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”“ Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink.“ Save me, Lord!” he shouted.Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him.“ You have so little faith,” Jesus said.“ Why did you doubt me?”When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped.

And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming,“ We’ve never seen anything like this before!”

Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened.“ What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly.“ It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!”

And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.

So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone.

The disciples were absolutely terrified.“ Who is this man?” they asked each other.“ Even the wind and waves obey him!”

The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves.But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these!

“ Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!
