耶穌看到人群圍著祂，就吩咐門徒渡到湖對岸。

有一天，耶穌對門徒說：「我們到湖的對岸去吧。」於是他們坐船前往對岸。

耶穌上了船，門徒也跟著祂上了船。忽然，湖面上狂風大作，波濤洶湧，船快要被巨浪吞沒，耶穌卻在睡覺。門徒連忙叫醒耶穌，說：「主啊，救命！我們快淹死了！」耶穌答道：「你們信心太小了，為什麼害怕呢？」於是祂起來斥責風和浪，風浪就完全平靜了。門徒很驚奇，說：「祂究竟是什麼人？連風浪都聽祂的！」

他們在湖對岸找到了耶穌，對祂說：「老師，你什麼時候到這裡來的？」

耶穌對他們說：「你們的信心在哪裡呢？」門徒又驚又怕，彼此議論說：「祂究竟是誰？一發命令，連風浪都聽祂的！」

耶穌再坐船回到對岸，立刻有一大群人在岸邊圍著祂。

事後，耶穌渡過加利利湖，就是提比哩亞海。

隨後，耶穌催門徒上船，叫他們先渡到湖對岸的伯賽大，祂則遣散眾人。
