He told them,“ The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables

He told them,“ The secret of God’s kingdom has been given to you. But to outsiders everything is told using stories.

And he said to them,“ To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables,

He replied,“ You are permitted to understand the secret of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables for everything I say to outsiders,

He answered them,“ The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to those outside, everything comes in parables

And He was saying to them,“ To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but for those who are outside, everything comes in parables,

And He said to them,“ To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables,

And he said unto them, Unto you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all things are done in parables:

爾時耶穌又言曰：『頌揚聖父、天地真主！蓋爾隱此道於智巧之人、而啟之於赤子；

對待外人、務望應時制宜、循循善誘！

夫外界之人何與於我、我亦何所用其評騭。吾人所欲評騭者、非會中人乎？若夫外界人之行為、自有天主為之評騭。惟爾中之為非作惡者務望爾等痛絕之也。

且在教外、亦須具有相當聲譽；恐遭輕侮、而陷於魔鬼之羅網。

耶穌曰：『天主國之奧義、賜爾知之；為他人惟設譬而已。彼乃所謂視而不見、聞而不悟者也。

故我親愛之兄弟，幸勿自誤。一切美德嘉惠、莫不來自天上、降自光明之父。惟父恆常不變、永無晦蝕。惟父憑其自由聖意、以真實無妄之道、予吾人以再造、俾充先薦之果、而與萬物更始；

務使外界睹爾品格高尚、行為端正、而無求於人也。

蓋吾人從前亦昏昧悖逆、徬徨岐途、縱情恣慾、險狠媢嫉；己實可惡、而轉以惡人。惟吾救主天主大發慈悲、不視人之行為、一惟彼之仁愛、藉重生之洗禮、賜吾人以救拔；因聖神之妙工、予吾人以復新。而天主之所以沛然以聖神傾注於吾人之心者、實以我救主耶穌基督之功。吾人托其恩澤、乃得免罪復義、而承嗣永生之望焉。

使吾人得領略其意旨之玄奧。蓋天主夙已從心所欲、

然富於慈悲之天主、按其愛人之大德、緣基督之偉功、拔吾人於罪中、起吾人於已死、俾吾人得與基督同享生命；且天主實已賜吾人托基督而復活、托基督而位於諸天之上矣。夫天主之所以為此者、乃欲假吾人因基督耶穌而受之慈惠、以昭示其無窮之恩德於後世耳。蓋爾因信而蒙救、實憑聖寵；凡此皆非爾所固有、純出天主之惠賜。無功而受賜夫孰得而自矜？即吾人本身亦莫非天主之化工、藉基督耶穌為行善而締造。然則吾人之行善、乃天主之成命耳。

耶穌曰：『天國之蘊奧、賜爾知之、不賜若輩；誠以有者益之、使沛然充溢、而無者並奪其所有。若輩視而不見、聽而不聞、冥頑不悟、故以譬喻訓之。

當時主感於聖神、不勝忻愉曰：『偉哉聖父！天地之主！爾令世之智者昧於妙道、而獨啟迪赤子之心。父乎、是誠爾之美意。父已將萬有交付於予矣！知子惟父、知父惟子、與夫受子啟迪之人。』乃謂諸弟子曰：『見爾所見、其目福矣！予實語爾、古來無數先知及君王、欲睹爾所睹、而未得睹；欲聞爾所聞、而未得聞也。』

耶穌曰：『福哉若納子西門：蓋以此啟汝者、非屬血氣肉情；在天吾父、實牖爾衷。

夫爾之優越、孰令致之？爾所有之一切、何一而非受之於主耶？既有所受、又安得自誇其所有、一若未之受耶？

然福哉爾目、以有見故。福哉爾耳、以有聞故。

夫天主昔嘗作光於黑暗之中矣、今乃照耀於吾人之心中、俾吾人得藉基督耶穌之聖容、而洞識天主之光榮。
