耶稣问他们：“在安息日可以行善还是作恶，救命还是害命？”他们却不做声。

復問眾曰：『禮日當行善乎？抑作惡乎？救生乎？抑戕生乎？』眾皆嘿然不答。

Then Jesus asked them,“ Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

Then Jesus asked them,“ What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?” But no one answered.

And he said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

Then he turned to his critics and asked,“ Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.

Then he said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

耶穌對他們說：「我問你們，在安息日行善行惡，救命害命，哪樣是合法的呢？」

那裏有個一隻手萎縮了的人。有人為了要控告耶穌，就問他：「安息日治病合不合法？」耶穌對他們說：「你們中間誰有一隻羊在安息日掉在坑裏，不抓住牠，把牠拉上來呢？人比羊貴重得多了！所以，在安息日做善事是合法的。」

安息日，耶穌到一個法利賽人的領袖家裏去吃飯，他們就窺探他。這時在他面前有一個患水腫病的人。耶穌回答律法師和法利賽人，說：「安息日治病合不合法？」他們卻不說話。耶穌扶着那人，治好了他，叫他走了。耶穌對他們說：「你們中間誰有兒子或有牛在安息日掉在井裏，不立刻拉他上來呢？」

他又對他們說：「安息日是為人設立的，人不是為安息日設立的。所以，人子也是安息日的主。」

於是用雙手按着她，她立刻直起腰來，就歸榮耀給上帝。會堂的主管因為耶穌在安息日治病，就很生氣，對眾人說：「有六天應當做工，那六天之內可以來求醫，在安息日卻不可。」主回答他：「假冒為善的人哪，難道你們各人在安息日不解開槽上的牛和驢，牽去喝水嗎？何況她本是亞伯拉罕的後裔，被撒但捆綁了十八年，不該在安息日這天解開她的綁嗎？」耶穌說這些話，他的敵人都慚愧了；所有的人因他所做一切榮耀的事都很歡喜。

門徒不作聲，因為他們在路上彼此爭論誰最大。

我喜愛慈愛，不喜愛祭物；喜愛人認識上帝，勝於燔祭。
