亚希突的儿子撒督和亚比亚他的儿子亚希米勒作祭司长，西莱雅作书记，

“你要取细面烤成十二个饼，每一个饼用两公斤细面。你要把饼摆列成两排，每排六个，放在耶和华面前精金的桌子（“精金的桌子”或译：“洁净的桌子”）上；把纯乳香放在每排饼上，象征这些饼作献给耶和华的火祭。每一个安息日，亚伦都要把饼摆在耶和华面前，不可间断，这是以色列人永远的约。这饼要归给亚伦和他的子孙，他们要在圣洁的地方吃，因为这是至圣的，在献给耶和华的火祭中，他永远的分。”

大卫到了挪伯祭司亚希米勒那里，亚希米勒战战兢兢地迎接大卫，对他说：“你为什么独自一人，没有人跟随你呢？”（本节在《马索拉文本》为21:2）

王对亚比亚他祭司说：“你回亚拿突自己的田地去吧！你本来是该死的，但我今天不杀死你，因为你在我父亲大卫面前抬过主耶和华的约柜，又与我父亲同受一切苦难。”所罗门就罢免了亚比亚他，不准他作耶和华的祭司，这样就应验了耶和华在示罗所说有关以利家的话。

亚伦和他的儿子要在会幕的门口吃这公绵羊的肉和篮子里的饼。他们要吃那些用来赎罪的东西，好使他们可以接受圣职，可以成圣；只是外人不可吃，因为这些东西是圣物。

亚多尼雅与洗鲁雅的儿子约押和亚比亚他祭司商议以后，二人都答应支持他。

于是撒督和亚比亚他把神的约柜抬回耶路撒冷去，并且住在那里。

亚希米勒的儿子亚比亚他逃到基伊拉去见大卫的时候，是手里带着以弗得下来的。

看哪！撒督也来了，所有抬神约柜的利未人都与他在一起。他们把神的约柜放下。亚比亚他上来，直到从城里出来的众人都走过去了。

大卫知道扫罗设计害他，就对亚比亚他祭司说：“把以弗得拿来！”

所罗门王回答他母亲，说：“你为什么要为亚多尼雅求书念的女子亚比煞呢？你也可以为他求这个国位，因为他是我的哥哥，又有亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押拥护他。”

撒督祭司和亚比亚他不是都在那里与你在一起吗？你在王宫里听见的话，都要告诉撒督祭司和亚比亚他。

亚希突的儿子亚希米勒有一个儿子，名叫亚比亚他，逃过了大难，就逃去跟随大卫。亚比亚他把扫罗杀害耶和华祭司的事告诉了大卫，大卫就对亚比亚他说：“那一天我见以东人多益在那里，就知道他必定会告诉扫罗。你父全家每个人的死，我都有责任。
