耶穌對他們說：「大衛和那些與他在一起的人飢餓缺乏時所做的事，難道你們從來沒有讀過嗎？

耶穌曰、爾未讀大衛與從者匱而飢時所為乎、

耶穌曰、爾不知大闢及從人乏食、饑時所行乎、

耶穌曰、經載大衛及從者乏食、饑時所行之事、爾未讀之乎、

對曰：『經載大維及從者飢時所為事、爾豈未寓目耶？

He answered,“ Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?

He answered,“ Haven’t you ever read about what David did? He and his men were hungry. They needed food.

And he said to them,“ Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:

Jesus said to them,“ Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

现在你手中有什么？请你给我五个饼或是可以找到的食物。”祭司对大卫说：“我手中没有普通的饼，只有圣饼，只能给没有亲近妇人的年轻人。”大卫回答祭司说：“我们确实没有亲近妇人，如同往常我出征的时候一样。平常行路，仆人的身体都还分别为圣，何况今日岂不更使自己分别为圣吗？”祭司拿圣饼给他，因为在那里没有别的饼，只有那从耶和华面前撤下的供饼，就是换上热饼的日子取下来的。

耶稣对他说：“律法上写的是什么？你是怎样念的呢？”

对他说：“这些人所喊的，你听到了吗？”耶稣对他们说：“听到了。经上说：‘你藉孩童和吃奶的口发出完全的赞美’，你们没有念过吗？”

耶稣对他们说：“‘匠人所丢弃的石头已作了房角的头块石头。这是主所做的，在我们眼中看为奇妙。’这段经文你们从来没有念过吗？

耶稣回答：“那起初造人的，是造男造女，并且说：‘因此，人要离开父母，与妻子结合，二人成为一体。’这经文你们没有念过吗？

论到死人复活，你们没有念过摩西书中《荆棘篇》上所记载的吗？上帝对摩西说：‘我是亚伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝，雅各的上帝。’

论到死人复活，上帝向你们所说的话，你们没有念过吗？

那么，有兄弟七人，第一个娶了妻，死了，没有留下孩子。
