耶穌回答說：「大衛和他的部下在饑餓、缺糧時所做的事，你們沒有讀過嗎？

耶穌對他們說：“大衛和跟他一起的人在飢餓缺食的時候所作的，你們沒有念過嗎？

耶穌對他們說：『大衛（本人和跟隨他的人）缺乏而餓着的時候所作的，你們從沒誦讀過麼？

耶穌對他們說：「大衛和那些與他在一起的人飢餓缺乏時所做的事，難道你們從來沒有讀過嗎？

耶穌曰、爾未讀大衛與從者匱而飢時所為乎、

耶穌曰、爾不知大闢及從人乏食、饑時所行乎、

耶穌曰、經載大衛及從者乏食、饑時所行之事、爾未讀之乎、

對曰：『經載大維及從者飢時所為事、爾豈未寓目耶？

He answered,“ Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?

He answered,“ Haven’t you ever read about what David did? He and his men were hungry. They needed food.

And he said to them,“ Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:

Jesus said to them,“ Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

And he said unto them, Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him?

Now what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread or whatever can be found.”The priest told him,“ There is no ordinary bread on hand. However, there is consecrated bread, but the young men may eat it only if they have kept themselves from women.”David answered him,“ I swear that women are being kept from us, as always when I go out to battle. The young men’s bodies are consecrated even on an ordinary mission, so of course their bodies are consecrated today.”So the priest gave him the consecrated bread, for there was no bread there except the Bread of the Presence that had been removed from the presence of the LORD. When the bread was removed, it had been replaced with warm bread.

“ What is written in the law?” he asked him.“ How do you read it?”

and said to him,“ Do you hear what these children are saying?” Jesus replied,“ Yes, have you never read: You have prepared praise from the mouths of infants and nursing babies?”

Jesus said to them,“ Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is what the Lord has done and it is wonderful in our eyes?

“ Haven’t you read,” he replied,“ that he who created them in the beginning made them male and female,

And as for the dead being raised— haven’t you read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God said to him: I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?

Now concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God:

There were seven brothers. The first married a woman, and dying, left no offspring.
