于是大大地争吵起来；有几个法利赛派的文士站起来争辩说：“我们看不出这人有什么错处；说不定有鬼魂或者天使对他说过话呢！”

法利赛人独自站着，自言自语地祷告说：‘上帝啊，我感谢你，我不像别人勒索、不义、奸淫，也不像这个税吏。

众人看见，都私下议论说：“他竟然到罪人家里去住宿。”

且对人说：‘你站开吧！不要挨近我，因为我对你来说太神圣了。’这些人惹我鼻中冒烟，如终日燃烧的火。

法利赛人和文士私下议论说：“这个人接纳罪人，又同他们吃饭。”耶稣就用比喻对他们说：“你们中间谁有一百只羊，失去其中的一只，不把这九十九只留在旷野，去找那失去的羊，直到找着呢？找到了，他就欢欢喜喜地把羊扛在肩上。他回到家里，请朋友和邻舍来，对他们说：‘你们和我一同欢喜吧，我失去的羊已经找到了！’我告诉你们，一个罪人悔改，在天上也要这样为他欢喜，比为九十九个不用悔改的义人欢喜还大呢！”

法利赛人看见，就对耶稣的门徒说：“你们的老师为什么与税吏和罪人一同吃饭呢？”

属灵的人能看透万事，却没有一人能看透他。

你们要仔细想想这位忍受了罪人如此顶撞的耶稣，你们就不致心灰意懒了。

“这个人为什么这样说呢？他说亵渎的话了。除了上帝一位之外，谁能赦罪呢？”

人子来是要寻找和拯救失丧的人。”

他若是不听他们，就去告诉教会；若是不听教会，就把他看作外邦人和税吏。
