於是大聲噪聒、有法利塞黨之經生數人、起而辯曰：『吾儕未見是人有何罪惡；安知無神靈或天神曾與之語耶？』

法利塞昂立默念、曰：「謝主俾我異若眾！眾或貪污、或犯義、或奸淫、謝主俾我異斯稅吏！

眾見而非議曰：『彼竟投宿罪人家耶！』

經生與法利塞人竊議其接納罪人、且與同席、耶穌設喻以曉之曰：『人有百羊、而亡其一、焉有不暫留其九十九於野、而覓其所亡、期在必獲者乎？既獲、則忻然肩之而歸、召其鄰友曰：「亡羊已獲、胥其與吾同樂。」故予語爾、一罪人回頭、其慰悅天心、有逾於九十九善人之無庸悔改者焉。

法利塞人見之、謂其徒曰：『爾師奚為與稅吏罪人同食？』

惟超性之人能評騭萬事、而人則莫測其高深。

而甘嘗垢辱、毅然肩負苦架。今則安坐天主寶位之右矣。爾等當細心體驗、耶穌當時如何忍受群小之拂逆、庶幾不致灰心而自餒。

『異哉斯人之言、何其僭妄之甚也！捨天主外、誰能赦罪者？』

且人子之來正欲追求迷失之人、而援救之耳。』

若復不聽、則報教會；設又不聽、則待之如外教人與稅吏可也。
