于是他们大大地喧嚷起来。有些法利赛派的经文士们站起来激烈地争辩，说：“我们查不出这个人有什么错。也许有灵或天使对他说过话呢！”

那法利赛人站着，向自己祷告这些话：‘神哪，我感谢你，因为我不像其他人那样：勒索、不义、通奸，也不像这个税吏。

大家看见，就抱怨说：“他竟然到一个罪人家里去借宿。”

他们说：‘你就站在那里，不要接近我，因为我比你圣洁。’这些就是我鼻孔中的烟，是终日燃烧的火。

法利赛人和经文士抱怨，说：“这个人欢迎罪人，又与他们一起吃饭。”于是耶稣对他们讲了这个比喻：“你们当中的哪一个人拥有一百只羊，而丢失其中的一只，就不会把九十九只留在旷野，去找那一只丢失的，直到找到了它呢？一旦找到了，他就快快乐乐地扛在自己的肩上，回到家里请朋友和邻居来，对他们说：‘你们与我一同欢乐吧，因为我找到了那只丢失的羊。’我告诉你们：同样，一个罪人的悔改，比九十九个不需要悔改的义人，会让天上更有喜乐。

有些法利赛人看见了，就对耶稣的门徒们说：“你们的老师为什么与那些税吏和罪人一起吃饭呢？”

属灵的人能洞察一切，但是没有人能洞察他。

其实，你们应当仔细地思想耶稣如何忍受了罪人的顶撞，这样你们心里就不会因丧气而疲倦。

“这个人怎么这样说话呢？他说亵渎的话！除了神一位之外，谁能赦免罪呢？”

要知道，人子来，是为了寻找并拯救迷失的人。”

如果他不听他们的，就告诉教会；如果他连教会也不听，就应当把他看做像外邦人或税吏一样。
