在该撒利亚有一个人，名叫哥尼流，是意大利营的百夫长。

耶稣到了迦百农，有一个百夫长前来恳求他，说：“主啊！我的仆人瘫痪了，躺在家里非常痛苦。”耶稣对他说：“我去医治他。”百夫长回答：“主啊，要你到舍下来，实在不敢当。只要你说一句话，我的仆人就必好了。我自己是在别人的权下，也有兵在我以下；我对这个说‘去！’他就去，对另一个说‘来！’他就来；对仆人说‘作这个！’他就作。”耶稣听了，就很惊奇，对跟随的人说：“我实在告诉你们，这样的信心，我在以色列中从来没有见过。

彼拉多惊讶耶稣已经死了，就叫百夫长前来，问他耶稣是不是死了很久。他从百夫长知道了实情以后，就把尸体给了约瑟。

但百夫长想要救保罗，就阻止他们这样行。他吩咐会游泳的跳下水去，先到岸上，
