民眾站著觀看。首領們也譏笑，說：「他救了別人！如果這個人是神的基督，是蒙揀選的那一位，讓他救自己吧！」士兵們也上前來戲弄他，給他獻上酸酒，說：「你如果是猶太人的王，救救你自己吧！」

同樣，祭司長們也與經文士們和長老們一起嘲笑，說：「他救了別人，卻不能救自己！他是以色列的王！現在讓他從十字架上下來吧，這樣我們就信靠他！他依靠神，如果神喜悅他，就讓神現在救他吧！因為他說過『我是神的兒子。』」

群狗圍繞我，一夥惡黨包圍我，他們刺穿我的雙手、我的雙腳；我能數算我全身的骨頭；他們又瞪著眼看我。

於是祭司長們和法利賽人召集了議會，說：「這個人行了很多神蹟，我們該做什麼呢？如果任憑他這樣下去，大家都會信他，羅馬人就會來，奪取我們的聖地和國家！」其中有一個人叫該亞法，是當年的大祭司，對他們說：「你們什麼都不懂！也不想一想，一個人替民眾死，免得全民族滅亡，這對你們是有益處的。」他說這話不是出於自己，只因他是當年的大祭司，就預言了耶穌要替全民族而死；而且不僅是替猶太民族死，也是要把神的那些四散的兒女都召集合一。

為什麼萬國悖逆，萬民圖謀虛妄的事呢？地上的君王們站出來，首領們一同商定，敵對耶和華和他的受膏者，說：「讓我們掙斷他們的捆綁，把他們的繩索從我們身上甩掉！」坐在天上的那一位會譏笑，主會嘲笑他們。

要知道，即使神的旨意要你們因行善而受苦，也比因作惡而受苦更好，因為基督也曾一次為了贖罪而受苦，就是義的代替不義的，為要把你們帶到神的面前。照著肉身說，基督固然被處死了；但照著靈說，他卻得以復活了。

耶穌回答他們，說：「人子得榮耀的時候到了！我確確實實地告訴你們：一粒麥子如果不落在地裡死去，它仍然是一粒；如果死了，就結出很多子粒來。
