But what was God’s reply to him? I have left 7,000 men for Myself who have not bowed down to Baal.

keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, so that you won’t grow weary and lose heart.

But Mordecai would not bow down or pay homage.The members of the royal staff at the King’s Gate asked Mordecai,“ Why are you disobeying the king’s command?”When they had warned him day after day and he still would not listen to them, they told Haman to see if Mordecai’s actions would be tolerated, since he had told them he was a Jew.When Haman saw that Mordecai was not bowing down or paying him homage, he was filled with rage.

This is what the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to one who is despised, to one abhorred by people, to a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see and stand up, and princes will bow down, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel— and He has chosen you.”

The men who were holding Jesus started mocking and beating Him.

But I will leave 7,000 in Israel— every knee that has not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; He was despised, and we didn’t value Him.Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds.
