“ He saved others, but He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him.He has put His trust in God; let God rescue Him now— if He wants Him! For He said,‘ I am God’s Son.’”

So Pilate asked Him,“ Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him,“ You have said it.”

Come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal ate him. Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their heads, and saying,“ Ha! The One who would demolish the sanctuary and build it in three days,save Yourself by coming down from the cross!”In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking Him to one another and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself!Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with Him were taunting Him.

The soldiers also mocked Him. They came offering Him sour wineand said,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”

It was the preparation day for the Passover, and it was about six in the morning. Then he told the Jews,“ Here is your king!”But they shouted,“ Take Him away! Take Him away! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them,“ Should I crucify your king?”“ We have no king but Caesar!” the chief priests answered.

He told his father and brothers, but his father rebuked him.“ What kind of dream is this that you have had?” he said.“ Are your mother and brothers and I going to come and bow down to the ground before you?”
