可是我告訴你們，凡是向弟兄發怒的，都要被判罪。誰若罵弟兄：‘你這蠢貨！（蠢貨：原文音譯是“拉加”，是亞蘭文侮辱別人的用語。）’，就要被公議會判罪；誰若罵：‘你這白痴！（白痴：原文是希臘文罵人的詞語，但是有少數學者認為這詞語是源於希伯來文，而把它音譯為“魔利”，意思是“叛徒”。）’，就罪該送入烈火的地獄。

強暴的見證人起來，盤問我所不知道的事。

於是他們唆使眾人，說：“我們聽過他說謗瀆摩西和神的話。”又煽動民眾、長老、經學家，這些人就來捉拿他，把他帶到公議會，並且造了假的證供說：“這人不斷抨擊聖地和律法。

過了五天，大祭司亞拿尼亞同幾個長老，和一個律師帖土羅來了，他們向總督控告保羅。保羅傳來了之後，帖土羅就控訴他說：“腓力斯大人，因著你的緣故，我們大大地享受著太平；因著你的遠見，本國大事改革；我們隨時隨地感激不盡。現在我不想多煩擾你，只求你寬容一下，聽我們講幾句話。我們看這個人就像瘟疫一樣，是煽動普天下猶太人生亂的人，又是拿撒勒派的首領。他還意圖污穢聖殿，我們就把他捉住。（有些抄本在此有以下一段：“我們想按照我們的律法審問他。7可是千夫長呂西亞來了，用武力把他從我們手中搶走，8還吩咐原告到你這裡來。”）

祭司長和公議會全體都想找假證供來控告耶穌，好把他處死；雖然有許多人前來作假證供，卻找不著證據。最後有兩個人前來說：

又叫兩個匪徒坐在拿伯的對面，作見證控告他說：‘你曾經咒詛神和君王’；然後把他拉出去，用石頭把他打死。”

但要用溫柔敬畏的心回答。當存無愧的良心，使那些誣賴你們這在基督裡有好品行的人，在毀謗你們的事上蒙羞。如果神的旨意是要你們受苦，那麼為行善受苦，總比為行惡受苦好。因為基督也曾一次為你們的罪死了，就是義的代替不義的，為要領你們到神面前。就肉體的方面說，他曾死去；就靈的方面說，他復活了；

於是這些監察司和總督在但以理治國的事上，尋找把柄控告他，只是不能找到任何的把柄和過失，因為他忠心可靠，他們找不到他的任何錯誤和過失。
