耶稣非常痛苦焦虑，祷告更加恳切，汗如大血点滴在地上。〕

彼得说：“虽然众人跌倒，但我不会。”耶稣对他说：“我实在告诉你，今天夜里，鸡叫两遍以前，你要三次不认我。”彼得却极力地说：“我就是必须和你同死，也绝不会不认你。”所有的门徒都是这样说。

见彼得取暖，就看着他，说：“你素来也是同拿撒勒人耶稣一起的。”彼得却不承认，说：“我不知道，也不明白你说的是什么！”于是他出来，到了前院，鸡就叫了。

以利亚听见，就用外衣蒙脸，出来站在洞口。听啊，有声音向他说：“以利亚，你在这里做什么？”

他在那里进了一个洞，在洞中过夜。看哪，耶和华的话临到他，说：“以利亚，你在这里做什么？”

彼得远远地跟着耶稣，直到大祭司的院子，进到里面，就和警卫同坐，要看结局怎样。

总要警醒祷告，免得陷入试探。你们心灵固然愿意，肉体却软弱了。”

他们在院子中间生了火，一同坐着，彼得也坐在他们当中。有一个使女看见彼得面向火光坐着，就定睛看他，说：“这个人素来也是同那人一起的。”

有些希伯来人过了约旦河，逃到迦得和基列地。扫罗还在吉甲，所有的人都战战兢兢地跟随他。
