捉拿耶稣的人把祂押到大祭司该亚法那里。律法教师和长老已聚集在那里。彼得远远地跟着耶稣，一直跟到大祭司的院子里。他坐在卫兵当中，想知道事情的结果。祭司长和全公会的人正在寻找假证据来控告耶稣，好定祂死罪。虽然有很多假证人诬告祂，但都找不到真凭实据。最后有两个人上前高声说：“这个人曾经说过，‘我能拆毁圣殿，三天内把它重建起来。’”大祭司站起来质问耶稣：“你不回答吗？这些人作证控告你的是什么呢？”耶稣还是沉默不语。大祭司又对祂说：“我奉永活上帝的名命令你起誓告诉我们，你是不是上帝的儿子基督？”耶稣说：“如你所言。但我告诉你们，将来你们要看见人子坐在大能者的右边，驾着天上的云降临。”大祭司撕裂衣服，说：“祂亵渎了上帝！我们还需要什么证人呢？你们现在亲耳听见了祂说亵渎的话，你们看怎么办？”他们回应说：“祂该死！”他们就吐唾沫在祂脸上，挥拳打祂。还有人一边打祂耳光，一边说：“基督啊！给我们说预言吧，是谁在打你？”

清早，祭司长、长老、律法教师和全公会的人商定后，便把耶稣绑起来押送到彼拉多那里。

祂遭欺压、受痛苦，却默然不语，像被人牵去宰杀的羔羊，又如在剪毛人手下一声不吭的绵羊。

第二天，官长、长老和律法教师都聚集在耶路撒冷，大祭司亚那，以及该亚法、约翰、亚历山大和大祭司的许多亲族都在场。

千夫长带着士兵和犹太人的差役上前把耶稣捆绑起来，带了回去。他们押着耶稣去见亚那，就是那一年的大祭司该亚法的岳父。这个该亚法以前曾对犹太人建议说：“让祂一个人替众人死对你们更好。”

他们把耶稣押到大祭司的府第。彼得远远地跟在后面。他们在庭院当中生起了火，围坐取暖，彼得也坐在他们中间。有个婢女看见彼得坐在火堆边，打量他一番后，说：“这人是与耶稣一伙的！”彼得却否认说：“你这女子，我不认识祂。”过了一会儿，又有个人看见了彼得，就说：“你也是跟他们一伙的！”彼得说：“你这人，我不是！”大约一小时之后，又有人指着彼得肯定地说：“这人确实是和耶稣一伙的，因为他也是加利利人。”彼得说：“你这人，我不知道你在说什么！”话才出口，鸡就叫了。这时，主转过头来望着彼得，彼得想起主对他说的话：“明早鸡叫之前，你会三次不认我。”他就到外面，痛哭起来。

此时，大祭司正在盘问耶稣有关祂的门徒和祂的教导之事。耶稣说：“我是公开对世人讲的，我常在犹太人聚集的会堂和圣殿教导人，没有在背地里讲过什么。你何必问我呢？问那些听过我讲的人吧，他们知道我讲过什么。”耶稣话才说完，站在旁边的差役就打了祂一耳光，说：“你敢这样回答大祭司！”耶稣说：“如果我说错了，你可以指出我错在哪里。如果我说的对，你为什么打我呢？”亚那把被捆绑起来的耶稣押到大祭司该亚法那里。
