忽然，有一個和耶穌一起的人伸手拔出刀來，把大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉了他一隻耳朵。耶穌對他說：「收刀入鞘吧！凡動刀的，必死在刀下。你想我不能求我父，現在為我差遣比十二營還多的天使來嗎？若是這樣，經上所說事情必須如此發生的話怎麼應驗呢？」

左右的人見了要發生的事，就說：「主啊，我們拿刀砍好不好？」其中有一個人把大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉了他的右耳。耶穌回答說：「算了，住手吧！」就摸那人的耳朵，把他治好了。

西門‧彼得帶着一把刀，就拔出來，把大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉了他的右耳，那僕人名叫馬勒古。於是耶穌對彼得說：「收刀入鞘吧！我父給我的杯，我豈可不喝呢？」
