詎園戶議曰：「是為其嗣、曷共殺之、其產歸吾矣。」

Now they wanted to arrest him( but they feared the crowd), because they realized that he told this parable against them. So they left him and went away.

Many bulls surround me; powerful bulls of Bashan hem me in.They open their mouths to devour me like a roaring lion that rips its prey.My strength drains away like water; all my bones are dislocated; my heart is like wax; it melts away inside me.The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. You set me in the dust of death.

This is what the LORD, the protector of Israel, their Holy One, says to the one who is despised and rejected by nations, a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see and rise in respect, princes will bow down, because of the faithful LORD, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

And I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring; her offspring will attack your head, and you will attack her offspring’s heel.”

He was treated harshly and afflicted, but he did not even open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughtering block, like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not even open his mouth.He was led away after an unjust trial– but who even cared? Indeed, he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the rebellion of his own people he was wounded.

this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.

Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute? They killed those who foretold long ago the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become!

So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the council together and said,“ What are we doing? For this man is performing many miraculous signs.If we allow him to go on in this way, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away our sanctuary and our nation.”Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said,“ You know nothing at all!You do not realize that it is more to your advantage to have one man die for the people than for the whole nation to perish.”

When Herod saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, he became enraged. He sent men to kill all the children in Bethlehem and throughout the surrounding region from the age of two and under, according to the time he had learned from the wise men.

When King Herod heard this he was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him.After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.“ In Bethlehem of Judea,” they said,“ for it is written this way by the prophet:‘ And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,are in no way least among the rulers of Judah,for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”Then Herod privately summoned the wise men and determined from them when the star had appeared.He sent them to Bethlehem and said,“ Go and look carefully for the child. When you find him, inform me so that I can go and worship him as well.”After listening to the king they left, and once again the star they saw when it rose led them until it stopped above the place where the child was.When they saw the star they shouted joyfully.As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.After being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back by another route to their own country.After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,“ Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to look for the child to kill him.”

For the people who live in Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him, and they fulfilled the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath by condemning him.Though they found no basis for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.

Come now, let’s kill him, throw him into one of the cisterns, and then say that a wild animal ate him. Then we’ll see how his dreams turn out!”

The kings of the earth form a united front; the rulers collaborate against the LORD and his anointed king.They say,“ Let’s tear off the shackles they’ve put on us! Let’s free ourselves from their ropes!”
