When they had come, they said to Him,“ Teacher, we know that You are true, and care about no one; for You do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?

既至、謂之曰、夫子、我知爾乃誠者、不徇乎人、蓋不以貌取人、而誠以上帝道訓人者也、納稅於該撒宜否、我儕納乎否乎、

乃就耶穌曰、先生、我知爾乃真者、不偏視人、不以貌取人、而以誠傳上帝道者也、納稅該撒宜否、

就耶穌曰、師、我儕知爾乃真者、不顧人議、不以貌取人、乃以真傳天主道者、納稅於該撒、宜否、納乎、抑不納乎、

乃曰：『夫子、吾知爾正直無私、不徇人情、惟天主之道是傳。敢問納稅於凱撒、理乎？

They came to him and said,“ Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?

They came to him and said,“ Teacher, we know that you are a man of honor. You don’t let other people tell you what to do or say. You don’t care how important they are. But you teach the way of God truthfully. Is it right to pay the royal tax to Caesar or not?

And they came and said to him,“ Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone’s opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?”

“ Teacher,” they said,“ we know how honest you are. You are impartial and don’t play favorites. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us— is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

When they came, they said to him,“ Teacher, we know you are truthful and don’t care what anyone thinks, nor do you show partiality but teach the way of God truthfully. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”

They came and* said to Him,“ Teacher, we know that You are truthful and do not care what anyone thinks; for You are not partial to anyone, but You teach the way of God in truth. Is it permissible to pay a poll tax to Caesar, or not?

And when they were come, they say unto him, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and carest not for any one; for thou regardest not the person of men, but of a truth teachest the way of God: Is it lawful to give tribute unto Cæsar, or not?

When they came, they said to Him,“ Teacher, we know You are truthful and defer to no one, for You don’t show partiality but teach truthfully the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

When they came they said to him,“ Teacher, we know that you are truthful and do not court anyone’s favor, because you show no partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”

When they had come, they asked him,“ Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don’t defer to anyone; for you aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?

“ For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.He is near who justifies Me; Who will contend with Me? Let us stand together. Who is My adversary? Let him come near Me.Surely the Lord GOD will help Me; Who is he who will condemn Me? Indeed they will all grow old like a garment; The moth will eat them up.

“ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house.You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious.

And it yields much increase to the kings You have set over us, Because of our sins; Also they have dominion over our bodies and our cattle At their pleasure; And we are in great distress.

And they began to accuse Him, saying,“ We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”

For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

But from those who seemed to be something— whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man— for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.

They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things,Who have said,“ With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; Who is Lord over us?”

Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue.

and said to Jeremiah the prophet,“ Please, let our petition be acceptable to you, and pray for us to the Lord your God, for all this remnant( since we are left but a few of many, as you can see),that the Lord your God may show us the way in which we should walk and the thing we should do.”

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.

As soon as He had come, immediately he went up to Him and said to Him,“ Rabbi, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.But when I saw that they were not straight forward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all,“ If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

For you were hypocrites in your hearts when you sent me to the Lord your God, saying,‘ Pray for us to the Lord our God, and according to all that the Lord your God says, so declare to us and we will do it.’

For if I make you sorrowful, then who is he who makes me glad but the one who is made sorrowful by me?

Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

And Micaiah said,“ As the Lord lives, whatever my God says, that I will speak.”

You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin.

Now therefore, let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care and do it, for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, no partiality, nor taking of bribes.”

He said,“ Yes.” And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying,“ What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?”Peter said to Him,“ From strangers.” Jesus said to him,“ Then the sons are free.Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

Fervent lips with a wicked heart Are like earthenware covered with silver dross.He who hates, disguises it with his lips, And lays up deceit within himself;When he speaks kindly, do not believe him, For there are seven abominations in his heart;Though his hatred is covered by deceit, His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly.

For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing.

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, But war was in his heart; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.

Who says of his father and mother,‘ I have not seen them’; Nor did he acknowledge his brothers, Or know his own children; For they have observed Your word And kept Your covenant.They shall teach Jacob Your judgments, And Israel Your law. They shall put incense before You, And a whole burnt sacrifice on Your altar.

Let it be known to the king that the Jews who came up from you have come to us at Jerusalem, and are building the rebellious and evil city, and are finishing its walls and repairing the foundations.Let it now be known to the king that, if this city is built and the walls completed, they will not pay tax, tribute, or custom, and the king’s treasury will be diminished.

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.“ If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again.If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it.“ You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute.

Therefore thus says the Lord:“ If you return, Then I will bring you back; You shall stand before Me; If you take out the precious from the vile, You shall be as My mouth. Let them return to you, But you must not return to them.And I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; And they will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you; For I am with you to save you And deliver you,” says the Lord.“ I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible.”

Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.
