Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.

Then He charged them, saying,“ Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

Then they said,“ Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.”

Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long.

The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set traps for me. Selah

Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk.And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying,“ Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men.Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said,“ Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius.And He said to them,“ Whose image and inscription is this?”They said to Him,“ Caesar’s.” And He said to them,“ Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.

Who make a man an offender by a word, And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, And turn aside the just by empty words.

Then Jesus said to them,“ Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”
