如果我们说‘是从人来的’，又怕触怒百姓，因为他们都相信约翰真的是先知。”

如果我们说‘是从人来的’……”他们害怕群众，因为众人都认为约翰的确是先知。

可是我们能说‘是来自人间’吗？”原来他们怕民众，因为大家都认为约翰的确是先知。

若說『從人間來』，卻又怕百姓，因為眾人真以約翰為先知。」

但若說『從人間來的』，卻又怕眾人，因為大家認為約翰確是先知。」

但若說『從人間來的』，卻又怕眾人，因為大家認為約翰確是先知。」

如果我們說『是從人來的』，又怕觸怒百姓，因為他們都相信約翰真的是先知。」

如果我們說‘是從人來的’……”他們害怕群眾，因為眾人都認為約翰的確是先知。

但是、若說由於人呢——』他們怕羣眾；因為眾人都看約翰真是神言人。

可是我們能說『是來自人間』嗎？」原來他們怕民眾，因為大家都認為約翰的確是先知。

若云自人、則又畏民、蓋皆以約翰為先知也、

若云由人、我又畏民、蓋民誠以約翰為先知也、

若云自人、則又畏民、蓋眾以約翰誠為先知、

若謂自人、眾又可畏、蓋眾皆確認如望為先知也。』

But if we say,‘ Of human origin’…”( They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)

But what if we say,‘ From human authority’?” They were afraid of the people. Everyone believed that John really was a prophet.

But shall we say,‘ From man’?”— they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet.

But do we dare say it was merely human?” For they were afraid of what the people would do, because everyone believed that John was a prophet.

But if we say,‘ Of human origin’”— they were afraid of the crowd, because everyone thought that John was truly a prophet.

But if we say,‘ From men’”— they feared the people, for all counted John to have been a prophet indeed.

But should we say, From men— they feared the people: for all verily held John to be a prophet.

But if we say,‘ From men’”— they were afraid of the crowd, because everyone thought that John was a genuine prophet.

But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all[ men] counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

But if we say,‘ From people–’”( they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).

If we should say,‘ From men’”— they feared the people, for all held John to really be a prophet.

And they were seeking to seize Him, and yet they feared the people, for they understood that He told the parable against them. And so they left Him and went away.

Although Herod wanted to put him to death, he feared the crowd, because they regarded John as a prophet.

And although they sought to arrest Him, they feared the crowds, since they considered Him to be a prophet.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.This is the one about whom it is written:‘ Behold, I am sending My messenger ahead of You, Who will prepare Your way before You.’I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they acknowledged God’s justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

At that time Jerusalem was going out to him, and all Judea and all the region around the Jordan;and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, as they confessed their sins.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.

for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he had been protecting him. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; and yet he used to enjoy listening to him.

But if we say,‘ From men,’ all the people will stone us to death, since they are convinced that John was a prophet.”And so they answered that they did not know where it came from.And Jesus said to them,“ Neither am I telling you by what authority I do these things.”

Many came to Him and were saying,“ While John performed no sign, yet everything John said about this man was true.”

Which of the two did the will of his father?” They* said,“ The first.” Jesus* said to them,“ Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even have second thoughts afterward so as to believe him.

And the chief priests and the scribes were trying to find a way to put Him to death, since they were afraid of the people.

The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, and yet they feared the people; for they were aware that He had spoken this parable against them.

Then the captain went along with the officers and proceeded to bring them back without violence( for they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned).
