眾責之、使緘默、彼愈呼曰、大衛之裔、矜恤我、

眾斥之、使緘默、彼愈呼曰、大衛之裔、矜憐我、

人多斥之、令勿喧。而彼更抗喉疾呼曰：『大維子、祈垂憐焉。』

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many people commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

“ Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many warned him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more,“ Have mercy on me, Son of David!”

Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Many people told him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more,“ Have mercy on me, Son of David!”

Many scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people,

The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more,“ Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”

While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said,“ Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”

Now the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.And he said to her,“ Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”But she answered him,“ Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”And he said to her,“ For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.”

And he said to them,“ Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves,for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;and he will answer from within,‘ Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’?I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs.And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying,“ Send her away, for she is crying out after us.”He answered,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came and knelt before him, saying,“ Lord, help me.”And he answered,“ It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”She said,“ Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”Then Jesus answered her,“ O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.He said,“ In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man.And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying,‘ Give me justice against my adversary.’For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself,‘ Though I neither fear God nor respect man,yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’”And the Lord said,“ Hear what the unrighteous judge says.And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day.When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.Then he said,“ Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”And he said to him,“ What is your name?” And he said,“ Jacob.”Then he said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
