But they shouted even more loudly,“ Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”Jesus stopped, called them, and said,“ What do you want me to do for you?”They said to him,“ Lord, let our eyes be opened.”Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging.When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was going on.They told him,“ Jesus the Nazarene is passing by.”So he called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”And those who were in front scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted even more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”So Jesus stopped and ordered the beggar to be brought to him. When the man came near, Jesus asked him,“ What do you want me to do for you?” He replied,“ Lord, let me see again.”Jesus said to him,“ Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”And immediately he regained his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they too gave praise to God.Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through it.

“ Now the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously as a beggar began saying,“ Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?”

And a man lame from birth was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called“ the Beautiful Gate” every day so he could beg for money from those going into the temple courts.When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, he asked them for money.

But at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus whose body was covered with sores,
