Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus( which means“ son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.

他們離開耶利哥的時候，有一大群人跟隨耶穌。這時候有兩個瞎眼的坐在路邊，他們聽說是耶穌經過那裡，就呼叫說：「主啊，大衛的後裔，可憐我們吧！」眾人責備他們，叫他們不要做聲。可是他們越發呼叫說：「主啊，大衛的後裔，可憐我們吧！」耶穌就停住，叫他們過來，說：「你們要我為你們做什麼呢？」他們說：「主啊，願你開我們的眼睛。」耶穌動了憐憫之心，摸了他們的眼睛。他們立刻重見光明，於是跟隨了耶穌。

耶穌快到耶利哥的時候，有一個瞎眼的坐在路邊乞討。他聽見人群經過那裡，就問到底是什麼事。有人告訴他：「拿撒勒人耶穌經過這裡。」他就呼喊說：「耶穌啊，大衛的後裔，可憐我吧！」走在前頭的人就責備他，要他安靜。可是，他卻更加大聲呼叫：「大衛的後裔，可憐我吧！」耶穌就停住，吩咐把他帶到他面前來；那人走近了，耶穌就問他：「你要我為你做什麼呢？」他說：「主啊，我要重見光明！」耶穌對他說：「你重見光明吧！你的信救了你。」他立刻重見光明，於是跟隨耶穌，一路上榮耀神。民眾都看到了，就讚美神。耶穌進了耶利哥，從城裡經過，

後來那窮人死了，被天使們帶到亞伯拉罕的懷裡。接著，那財主也死了，並且被埋葬了。

他的鄰居和原先看見他討飯的人就說：「這不是那一向坐著討飯的人嗎？」

一個生來瘸腿的被人抬來。他天天被放在那叫「美門」的聖殿門口，為要向進聖殿的人乞討。他看見彼得和約翰正要進入聖殿，就求他們施捨。

又有一個窮人，名叫拉撒路，滿身膿瘡，被放在財主的門口，
