Jesus looked at him and loved him.“ One thing you lack,” he said.“ Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him.“ There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him.“ Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him,“ You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him,“ One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Then, looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him,“ You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

As Jesus looked at him, he felt love for him and said,“ You lack one thing. Go, sell whatever you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

乃諭諸徒曰：『人欲從予、必須克己、負其十字架、而追隨予後。

各鬻其產、視人所需而供之。

守全法而犯一誡者、亦為犯法。

當罄售所有、博施濟眾、自製不敝之囊、積無盡之藏於天、盜不得而近之、蠹不得而蝕焉。

第吾有不滿於爾者、以爾已無初愛之忱也。

叮嚀斯世富人、不可驕傲；財富無常、未足恃也。所可恃者、惟天主耳。天主慨然以萬物賜予吾人、俾得充量享受者、亦欲吾人努力為善、富於美德、慷慨為懷、博施濟眾而已矣。此亦所以為來日自培美基、以把握真生命耳。

惟吾對爾亦略有未滿；蓋爾中有少數人、服膺巴拉盎之邪道；巴拉盎者、即昔日教唆巴拉可置躓石於義塞子孫之前、令食祭像之物、且誘其行淫者也。

吾為爾等靈魂之故、固不惜任何之犧牲、即犧牲本身、亦所甘心。豈吾之愛爾愈厚、而爾之愛我愈薄耶？

吾所不滿於爾者、以爾優容彼婦葉撒伯爾也。該婦自稱女先知、而以邪道熒惑吾之諸僕、誘其行淫、且食祭像之物。

耶穌曰：『欲為完人、往售所有、施於貧人、積寶於天、再來從我。』

爾等不惟體恤囹圄中人、即自己產業之被劫奪、亦能逆來順受、且欣然自樂、固知另有盡善盡美、可大可久之嗣業在也。

使吾人欣欣向榮、以望承其不朽不染不衰之洪基、斯則夙為爾曹預儲於天矣。蓋天主之神力、必能因爾之信德、保爾始終不渝、俾沐將顯於末日之恩澤也。

然所需者、一而已矣！瑪麗所選、乃其善者、志之所在、不可奪也。』

爾毋儲富於地；蠹蝕焉、銹敗焉、竊者穿窬而盜焉。惟宜儲富於天、既無蠹蝕銹敗、又無盜竊穿窬之虞。蓋寶之所在、心之所存也。

更謂眾及門徒曰：『人欲從予、必先舍己、負其十字架而隨我後。

人欲事我、宜亦步亦趨、追踵於我、庶幾我之所詣、吾僕亦克詣焉。人能事我、父必榮之。

耶穌諭眾曰：『人欲從予、務宜克己、日負其十字架、而隨予後。

天國猶如田間寶藏、有人偶發、即掩之、忻然而去、盡售所有、購置新田。天國又如賈者之求美珠、見希世之珠、即售其所有以市之。

既為兒女、即為嗣子；既為天主之嗣子、則亦為基督之共同繼承人也。惟是吾人如欲與之共榮、則不可不先與之共苦共難耳。蓋吾以為現世之種種苦難、衡諸來日將啟示於吾人之榮福、實屬輕微之事、無足介意。

故予勸爾、亟以虛夸之財富、廣結良友、則爾謝世之時、必有迎爾入於永宅者矣。

耶穌聞其言、而謂之曰：『尚缺一事、當盡鬻所有、施諸貧人、用積寶於天、然後來從予遊。』

耶穌將抵國都、望城而泣曰：

凡真心奉事基督耶穌、而實踐其道者、靡有不遭受危難迫辱。

予以此語爾、俾爾因予而得平安。爾在人世、固有患難、惟勿因是而餒、予已克勝人世矣。』

不虞匱乏；蓋有田宅者、無不鬻之、以金授之宗徒、視人之需而分配焉。有生於居比路之若瑟者、理未人也。宗徒稱之為巴拿巴、譯言「安慰之子、」亦售其田產、而置金於宗徒之足前焉。
