Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.

Now when Jesus heard that John had been imprisoned, he went into Galilee.

And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near,

The spirit of the sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,to announce the year when the LORD will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,to strengthen those who mourn in Zion, by giving them a turban, instead of ashes, oil symbolizing joy, instead of mourning, a garment symbolizing praise, instead of discouragement. They will be called oaks of righteousness, trees planted by the LORD to reveal his splendor.

Then Jesus went throughout all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness.

Herod added this to them all: He locked up John in prison.

and he said to his servants,“ This is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead! And because of this, miraculous powers are at work in him.”

Some time afterward he went on through towns and villages, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him,

But Jesus said to them,“ I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns too, for that is what I was sent to do.”So he continued to preach in the synagogues of Judea.

and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Now when John heard in prison about the deeds Christ had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question:

“ And now I know that none of you among whom I went around proclaiming the kingdom will see me again.

After this, Jesus and his disciples came into Judean territory, and there he spent time with them and was baptizing.John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because water was plentiful there, and people were coming to him and being baptized.( For John had not yet been thrown into prison.)

They set a day to meet with him, and they came to him where he was staying in even greater numbers. From morning until evening he explained things to them, testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus from both the law of Moses and the prophets.
