彼所為善者、等諸蒺藜、彼所為義者、同於荊棘、先知所言之災、其日伊邇、庶民潰亂、

彼所謂善者、等諸荊棘、彼所謂正者、同於蒺藜、或作彼之最善義者惟如荊棘彼之最正直者但如蒺藜爾中先知所言之日、即爾受罰之日速至、是時眾俱荒亂、

The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.

The best of these people are as harmful as thorns. The most honest of them are even worse. God has come to punish you. The time your prophets warned you about has come. Panic has taken hold of you.

Even the best of them is like a brier; the most honest is as dangerous as a hedge of thorns. But your judgment day is coming swiftly now. Your time of punishment is here, a time of confusion.

主——萬軍之耶和華已經定了日子，要使耶路撒冷飽受恐慌、失敗和混亂，城牆被攻破，哭喊聲響徹山間。

人子啊，不要怕他們和他們的話，雖然你周圍佈滿荊棘和毒蠍，也不要害怕。他們是一群叛逆的人，你不要怕他們的話，也不要因為他們的臉色而驚慌。

但惡人要像荊棘一樣被丟棄，沒人用手碰他們，人要拿鐵器和長矛把他們收集起來焚毀。」

在懲罰的日子，當災禍從遠方臨到你們頭上時，你們怎麼辦？你們能跑到誰那裡去求救呢？你們能把財物藏在哪裡呢？

主耶和華這樣宣告，我要廢掉這句俗語，使它從以色列人的口中消失。你要對他們說，『日子已近，異象都要應驗。』在以色列人中必不再有虛假的異象和諂媚的預言。

他們做可憎的事會羞愧嗎？不！他們不知廉恥，毫不臉紅。因此，他們要與其他人一樣滅亡，死在我的懲罰下。這是耶和華說的。

曾經的荊棘之地必長出松樹，曾經的蒺藜之地必長出番石榴。這便是永遠長存的記號，以宣揚耶和華的名。」

它們毫無價值，荒謬可笑，在報應的時候必被毀滅。

「日月星辰必顯出異兆，怒海洶湧、波濤翻騰，令各國驚恐不安。

以色列人受懲罰的日子近了，遭報應的時候到了！這點你們要知道。你們罪惡深重，充滿憎恨，以致你們說：「先知是傻瓜，被靈感動的人是瘋子。」先知為了上帝做以法蓮的守望者，可是他走的路上佈滿網羅，在他上帝的家裡遭人憎恨。

耶和華問我：「阿摩司，你看見什麼？」我說：「我看見一籃夏天的果子。」祂說：「我以色列子民的結局到了，我不會再饒恕他們。

你們像糾結的荊棘，又像酩酊大醉的人，要如乾稭被火燒盡。

若長出來的盡是荊棘和蒺藜，就毫無價值，它會面臨被咒詛的危險，最後必遭焚燒。
