My people, remember what King Balak of Moab proposed, what Balaam son of Beor answered him, and what happened from the Acacia Grove to Gilgal so that you may acknowledge the LORD’s righteous acts.

My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Remember how Balak, the king of Moab, planned to put a curse on your people. But Balaam, the son of Beor, gave them a blessing instead. Remember their journey from Shittim to Gilgal. I want you to know that I always do what is right.”

O my people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Don’t you remember, my people, how King Balak of Moab tried to have you cursed and how Balaam son of Beor blessed you instead? And remember your journey from Acacia Grove to Gilgal, when I, the Lord, did everything I could to teach you about my faithfulness.”

O My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled, And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, From Acacia Grove to Gilgal, That you may know the righteousness of the Lord.”

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; remember from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

My people, recall how King Balak of Moab planned to harm you, how Balaam son of Beor responded to him. Recall how you journeyed from Shittim to Gilgal, so you might acknowledge that the LORD has treated you fairly.”

My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of Yahweh.”

While Israel was staying in the Acacia Grove, the people began to prostitute themselves with the women of Moab.

The LORD then said to Joshua,“ Today I have rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from you.” Therefore, that place is still called Gilgal today.While the Israelites camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, they observed the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month.

Let them tell the righteous acts of the LORD, the righteous deeds of his villagers in Israel, with the voices of the singers at the watering places. Then the LORD’s people went down to the city gates.

The people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and camped at Gilgal on the eastern limits of Jericho.

Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He sent for Balaam son of Beor to curse you,but I would not listen to Balaam. Instead, he repeatedly blessed you, and I rescued you from him.

Spread your faithful love over those who know you, and your righteousness over the upright in heart.

Along with the others slain by them, they killed the Midianite kings— Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.

My soul, bless the LORD, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.My soul, bless the LORD, and do not forget all his benefits.

Do not eat leavened bread with it. For seven days you are to eat unleavened bread with it, the bread of hardship— because you left the land of Egypt in a hurry— so that you may remember for the rest of your life the day you left the land of Egypt.

They camped by the Jordan from Beth-jeshimoth to the Acacia Meadow on the plains of Moab.

They have gone astray by abandoning the straight path and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness

“ Yet they are the ones who, at Balaam’s advice, incited the Israelites to unfaithfulness against the LORD in the Peor incident, so that the plague came against the LORD’s community.

My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up.I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.

Now present yourselves, so I may confront you before the LORD about all the righteous acts he has done for you and your ancestors.

God presented him as the mercy seat by his blood, through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be just and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.

He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered. The LORD is gracious and compassionate.

The Israelites traveled on and camped in the plains of Moab near the Jordan across from Jericho.Now Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.Moab was terrified of the people because they were numerous, and Moab dreaded the Israelites.So the Moabites said to the elders of Midian,“ This horde will devour everything around us like an ox eats up the green plants in the field.” Since Balak son of Zippor was Moab’s king at that time,he sent messengers to Balaam son of Beor at Pethor, which is by the Euphrates in the land of his people. Balak said to him,“ Look, a people has come out of Egypt; they cover the surface of the land and are living right across from me.Please come and put a curse on these people for me because they are more powerful than I am. I may be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that those you bless are blessed and those you curse are cursed.”The elders of Moab and Midian departed with fees for divination in hand. They came to Balaam and reported Balak’s words to him.He said to them,“ Spend the night here, and I will give you the answer the LORD tells me.” So the officials of Moab stayed with Balaam.Then God came to Balaam and asked,“ Who are these men with you?”Balaam replied to God,“ Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent this message to me:‘ Look, a people has come out of Egypt, and they cover the surface of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. I may be able to fight against them and drive them away.’”Then God said to Balaam,“ You are not to go with them. You are not to curse this people, for they are blessed.”So Balaam got up the next morning and said to Balak’s officials,“ Go back to your land, because the LORD has refused to let me go with you.”The officials of Moab arose, returned to Balak, and reported,“ Balaam refused to come with us.”Balak sent officials again who were more numerous and higher in rank than the others.They came to Balaam and said to him,“ This is what Balak son of Zippor says:‘ Let nothing keep you from coming to me,for I will greatly honor you and do whatever you ask me. So please come and put a curse on these people for me!’”But Balaam responded to the servants of Balak,“ If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go against the command of the LORD my God to do anything small or great.Please stay here overnight as the others did, so that I may find out what else the LORD has to tell me.”God came to Balaam at night and said to him,“ Since these men have come to summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”When he got up in the morning, Balaam saddled his donkey and went with the officials of Moab.But God was incensed that Balaam was going, and the angel of the LORD took his stand on the path to oppose him. Balaam was riding his donkey, and his two servants were with him.When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing on the path with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the path and went into the field. So Balaam hit her to return her to the path.Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow passage between the vineyards, with a stone wall on either side.The donkey saw the angel of the LORD and pressed herself against the wall, squeezing Balaam’s foot against it. So he hit her once again.

So, then, remember that at one time you were Gentiles in the flesh— called“ the uncircumcised” by those called“ the circumcised,” which is done in the flesh by human hands.

but remember that the LORD your God gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm his covenant he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

“ Remember and do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God in the wilderness. You have been rebelling against the LORD from the day you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place.

But I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block in front of the Israelites: to eat meat sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

Again Balak said to Balaam,“ Please come. I will take you to another place. Maybe it will be agreeable to God that you can put a curse on them for me there.”

This is because they did not meet you with food and water on the journey after you came out of Egypt, and because Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram-naharaim was hired to curse you.Yet the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but he turned the curse into a blessing for you because the LORD your God loves you.

Your righteousness reaches the heights, God, you who have done great things; God, who is like you?

For your name’s sake, LORD, let me live. In your righteousness deliver me from trouble,

Remember that the LORD your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

Then Balak said to him,“ Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You will only see the outskirts of their camp; you won’t see all of them. From there, put a curse on them for me.”So Balak took him to Lookout Field on top of Pisgah, built seven altars, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

Joshua captured all these kings and their land in one campaign, because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, have plunged into Balaam’s error for profit, and have perished in Korah’s rebellion.

In the morning, Balak took Balaam and brought him to Bamoth-baal. From there he saw the outskirts of the people’s camp.
